"DMK leader MK Stalin promised during the state elections campaigning that he would bring a new education policy for the state opposing the Centre's National Education Policy as it is against the Dravidian principles."

Close on the heels of passing two or three resolutions successfully against Central government's legislation, the tenacious MK Stalin led DMK, on the behest of medical college owners, has passed yet another bill to nullify NEET in the State Assembly on 13th September, after the day the countrywide NEET examinations were held successfully. It seems the government is on the warpath with the Modi led NDA government at the Centre.

It is has been said and written several times that the Abrahamic forces have been fully active in the State since the new DMK government came to power in the April Assembly polls. Now it is a heaven for fundamentalists, anti-national forces and the drug mafia. DMK, which has been doing politics over death, particularly students committing suicides fearing failure in NEET exams, made a poll promise of repealing the NEET examinations. Stalin, his son, heir apparent Udhayanidhi Stalin and its top leaders are hoodwinking the people till this date that they have the power to repeal the NEET legislation, knowing quite well that it was impossible. In Bharat, except Tamil Nadu, other states and union territories have fallen in line with enacting laws and subsequent SC orders.

On 12th September, hours before the commencement of NEET examinations, a 19-year-old boy Dhanush, who was preparing to attempt for the 3rd time, allegedly killed himself at his home near Mettur. Opposition parties and BJP have been accusing the government of confusing the students by giving false promises that a permanent exemption for the State from NEET would be made. This was the reason for students' unpreparedness in facing the entrance exam and some, like Dhanush, killing themselves. Another girl student, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi from Ariyalur district, who scored 562 out of 600 in Plus Two examination, committed suicide reportedly out of fear that she was unable to perform well in NEET. Nearly a dozen students allegedly committed killed themselves allegedly over the NEET. CM Stalin said students took the extreme step because they couldn't clear the test even after two attempts. "Union Government's indifference and obstinacy' were driving students to death. Irregularities in the conduct of NEET did not help to change its stand. This further strengthens the case for bringing education to the State list, ", CM MK Stalin stated. Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswamy said "There is no clear stand taken by the DMK on NEET and is unnecessarily confusing students and their parents. Because of the rhetoric created by the DMK through the media that NEET would be cancelled, students couldn't prepare adequately for the exam.

On the next day, Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a bill seeking to dispense with the requirement of candidates to qualify in the NEET for admission to UG and PG medical courses in the State. "Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate medical Degree Courses bill, 2021 makes provisions admissions to these courses based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination Plus Two through normalization methods as done before 2017.

On 29th August, the Assembly passed a resolution urging the Union government to repeal the three contentious farm laws. On the 8th of this month, the House unanimously adopted a resolution against the CAA by nudging the Union Government to repeal the law, which is not in tune with the secular principles laid down in the Constitution.

"Fulfilling a poll promise made to the people of the State in its first Budget, the Stalin led DMK government announced that it would formulate a separate State Education Policy. "A high-level committee of educationists and experts would be set to formulate a 'distinct' State Education Policy keeping in mind the historical legacy, present situation and future aspirations of the State," said the Finance Minister. The announcement assumes immense significance as the DMK has constantly been opposing the Centre's National Education Policy as it is against the Dravidian principles."

Many questions the cantankerous approach of the Stalin government in opposing the Centre and its legislations. It is adopting a path that is against well-laid constitutional norms. "It is a million-dollar question when there is already a NEP in place. Will Tamil Nadu's proposed State Education Policy not create chaos in academics? Did it not become a bone of contention between the State and the Centre? The same way when NEET was accepted all over the nation, how can a lone TN state get a permanent exemption from NEET exams? It is a contempt of court as it goes against the SC directions," said journalist Praveen.

Journalist K Venkataramanan wrote in 'The Hindu 'that the previous AIADMK regime had passed two bills, one each for undergraduate and postgraduate, but the President withheld the assent. In other words, the Centre rejected the attempt of the State from rigours of NEET…. Modi government appears to be in no mood to grant exemption from NEET to any state. In any case, it has to explain the exemption to the SC, which has taken a rigid position that only NEET can ensure standards in medical education."

TN state BJP Chief K. Annamalai said, "A lot of students from Tamil Nadu are successful in the NEET examinations. The NEET issue has been debated since 2016. TN can't repeal the NEET. It is a SC verdict and accepted by all except Tamil Nadu. If any bill is passed, it would be a contempt of court. It will have no legal sanction. It is not against federal structure or State's autonomy, as alleged in some quarters. I urge the TN government to come out with a white paper on this issue detailing the pass rate of students before and after the NEET regime. I am ready for an open debate on the NEET issue with the DMK." He said that opposition parties should handle the NEET issue with maturity. "I am certain that mafia (private medical colleges) has broken after the NEET came into existence. Certainly NEET is not anti- federal, anti-student, anti-poor as made out by DMK and its allies," he said.

"For the Kashmiri youth syed ali Shah geelani’s life represents a true example of what should not be done."

"It is a real tragedy that Geelani was buried in India and not in Pakistan.” This statement posted on Facebook by Indu Jalali, a Kashmiri Pandit lady living in Europe, aptly summarises the widespread sentiment at the demise, due to old age, of the Kashmiri separatist, Syed Ali Geelani, at age 91,  on September 1.

Geelani was the kingpin of separatism in Kashmir. To remain relevant, he chose to become a stooge of Pakistan and proverbially “sold his soul to the devil.” For a better part of his life he sang the tune that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) wanted him to sing and made pro-Pakistan and anti-India statements at its behest. His open bias towards Pakistan created strong doubts within Kashmir about his political motives.

Pakistan, however, started washing its hands off him far back in 2015, when he was dumped unceremoniously due to political expediency. He boycotted the Eid Milan Party hosted by the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi that year, ostensibly in protest against the non-inclusion of Kashmir in the talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif at Ufa in Russia. In actuality, he was expressing his frustration at being marginalised. Later, he started singing the Pakistan song all over again even though Pakistan refused to respond. It is astounding that after being used as a puppet, he continued to show servility to Pakistan. Later, in 2020, Pakistan relented and awarded him the Nishan-e-Pakistan,  which also heralded the culmination of  the relationship.

In the late 1990s the All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC) was not averse to a negotiated settlement of the Kashmir issue, with Pakistan as a party to the talks. It was in constant touch with the Indian Government. Such a thought process was not acceptable to Pakistan’s ISI and as a result, on April 24, 1998, Geelani, with the support of ISI, wrested control of APHC from Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Geelani then went on to become the architect of a dark, turbulent period in the history of Kashmir.

The constituents of the Hurriyat realised the danger of continuing with Geelani in their fold and attempted to sideline him. However, their internal contradictions became their curse, and a split within the conglomerate in 2003 put Geelani, once again, in the driving seat after the unceremonious removal of then chairman Mohammad Abbas Ansari and suspension of the seven-member executive committee.

In July 2020, finally, the Hurriyat won the battle against Geelani when he resigned from the organisation. The move was widely perceived as the case of “an irrelevant person leaving an irrelevant organisation.” Thus came to an end the Hurriyat chapter of his lifetime and, as in the case of Pakistan, much before his demise.

There are two aspects in which Geelani caused irreparable harm to Kashmir and its people In the pursuit of his unbridled ambition. The first is his alignment with Pakistan and through Pakistan with Saudi Arabia which resulted in the Saudi sponsored Wahabi/Salafi concept of Islam replacing the enlightened Sufi culture of the valley. The second is the loss of childhood, education and aspirations of two generations of the Kashmir youth who were sucked into the politics of divisiveness and disruption that he advocated. It is now quite clear that Geelani was one of the master-minds of the stone-pelting era, which ruined so many Kashmiri youth.

No self-respecting leader fighting for the freedom of his people would bow before a government that he is fighting against. Revolutionaries are made of sterner stuff; they do not succumb to human frailties. Geelani sadly, was not made of such stern stuff; he had no compunction in using facilities provided by the Indian nation while castigating it openly. He was looked after, free of cost, in the best government hospitals like AIIMS. 

His children received the best possible education in India and are pursuing lucrative professions in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia etc. far from the miseries of Kashmir. His “selfless sacrifice” has been good for his family.

In pursuance of his evil agenda, Geelani also became a very rich man. At its face, he maintained that a collection of Zakat (religious contribution) was his source of funds. In actuality, he got vast funds through Hawala transactions from Pakistan and other countries, with the annual amount running in crores. He was badly hit by demonetisation and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into his organisation’s illicit and criminal funding of terror and disruptive activity in the Kashmir Valley. After many decades in politics, Geelani does not have anything substantial to show as an achievement. Even his children understand the futility of his cause and have moved on to other professional pursuits. His legacy will probably pass on to Masarat Alam, a man lacking in intellect and ideology and more suitable for  rabble-rousing politics. He has no role to play in the  “New Kashmir.”

Geelani had in him the acumen to do something for his people. After all, he fought and won three elections before treading the path of separatism. Even while holding on to his political ideology and principles, he could have been of value to his people by following a moderate approach. As a moderate, he would have been in a better position to present his case. Sadly it was not to be, and now the times of a dogmatic, obdurate, self-serving and double-faced leader have come to an end. For the Kashmiri youth, his life represents a true example of what should not be done.

The French Revolution was the cornerstone to the uprising of the exploited masses which finally led to the nascent idea of democratic set up and equal participation of society as a whole in determining its own future through a forceful revolution against the imperialist state. Fredrich Hegel then came up with his dialectics on rights, state and freedom; Hegel concluded on freedom, “The sole work and deed of universal freedom is therefore death … a deed, moreover, with no more significance than cleaving the head of a cabbage …. Absolute freedom becomes objective to itself as abstract self-consciousness which destroys all distinction within it … the Terror is the direct expression of this, it’s negative character”. The idea of reality according to Marx was naively put to be only about the fight between the oppressor and the oppressed. The revolution of the proletariat thus had only one goal, to overthrow any existing superstructure and create a new centralised structure where the state determined the freedom, rights and a vindictive redistribution of possessions. The State was to become the caregiver of the subjects and any subversion from the ideals of the state was deemed anti establishment. In a way the imperialists/oppressors were fought only to be ruled by another powerful ruthless  oligarch according to a few principles, as  we have seen in every country which  tried socialism.

The dip in the monopoly of Islam as the Ottoman empire, Safavid empire kept  loosing its strength after almost 700 years of ruthless rule around the world and the rise of imperialism in the form of education and technology during the Renaissance period and afterwards coupled with the ascend in acceptance of Christianity since the 16th century in western Europe, led  to the growing discontentment and an urge for mordernisation or re-energising the Islamic society.  Around the end of 19th century, many found the perfect opportunity of re-establishing the ideals of Islam as they strained the idea of equality was inherent in Quran like Zakat and started cozying up to the idea of socialism which gained momentum in eastern Europe.  Bahawetdin Wäisev, the earliest known proponent of political Islam according to Hanif Ramay Chief Minister of western Punjab in 1993, was born in Tazan Russia in 1810 and died in 1893. He had ambition to  create a Muslim-Turkish nation based on Sharia  and socialism. 

According to the testimony of Ibrahim bin Zainulla Al Bulgari, “Bahawetdin Wäisev had documents proving that his father was directly descended from Prophet Muhammad, and that his mother was also descended from a noble Bulgarian clan .” The main doctrines of Wäisi were disobedience to civil laws and administration, adherence to the Sharia and Quran rather than government regulations, evasion of service in the "kafir" army and of paying imposition, and refusal to obtain the Russian passport featuring a double-headed eagle which led to the Russian Revolution in 1905 and Lelin famously stated it to be the dress rehearsal for the Bolshevik Revolution a decade later.

The formation of Turkey and Iraq after the First World War and the abolition of the Ottoman empire and the caliphate and the later triggered an upheaval of Muslim sentiments around the world and a distinct Islamic nationalistic fervour was observed in South Asian countries with sizeable Muslim population. The Armenian genocide and the torture of Assyrians and Greeks during and after World War in Turkey proved the hostility and the insecurity of the Muslims against other religions and the consolidation of Islamic Ummah from the perspective of a nation state. The Khilafat Movement in India which started from 1919 and similar movements in Indonesia finally led to the formation of Islamic Pakistan and Afghanistan was a response to the domination of the imperialist colonisers.

The Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 was the biggest success against Christian imperialists and the communists found a strange ally with the Muslims of central Asia as communists lacked numbers to conquer the whole of Russia. Lenin went to the extent of supporting Muslims post the revolution with sincerity. “To all toiling Moslems of Russia and the East, whose mosques and prayer-houses have been destroyed, whose beliefs have been trampled on by the Czars and the oppressors of Russia. Your beliefs and customs, your national and cultural institutions are declared henceforth free and inviolable. Organise your national life freely and without hindrance. This is your right. Know your rights . . . are protected by the entire might of the revolution and its organs. . . . Support this revolution and its government!” Because the bulk of the Muslims of the Soviet Union consisted of an unusually high proportion of peasants, the pro-peasant NEP in early 1920s effectively worked in their favour.”

The Church controls the society and guides everyday life and is strict to a fault, thus breaching the wall of the Christian religious society was easier for the Red Army. The orthodox Christians were crushed mercilessly in Russia. The theology of Islam is greatly different than that of Christianity and Islam permits different ways of following. Dar-ul–Islam is the land where one can practice freely the five pillars of Islam, but living in dar-ul-harb, a land not conducive to Islam, Muslims are free to choose and follow the religion in private and in secrecy. The Muslims under the Russian monarch enjoyed a free and reformed Islamic life but the idea of  overthrowing the monarch supporting the revolution was more acceptable than being under  Christian rule.

The Muslim population of Central Asia expected industrial growth with the arrival of communists but that hardly happened. Stalin stated that Islam had to be destroyed "by indirect and more cautious ways" than those used against the orthodox church. Numerous mosques were closed down, clerics banned and Muslim communist leaders like Mirza Sultan-Galiev purged for their interest in autonomous Muslim states.

The Middle East was at one point completely controlled by the imperialists and communism did try to penetrate the Islamic society for the revolution and we see that in Egypt, the leader of Muslim modernism, Sheikh Muhammed Rashid Rida, occasionally gave voice to pro-Bolshevik sentiments. Similar attempts by the communists were made in Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen, Morocco and Algeria where Islamist uprisings were co-opted. Although as  soon as the Islamists came into power the communists  were the first people to be purged like in Iran,  Afghanistan, Indonesia.

*China’s Concentration Camps

The communists of China has been seen doing similar oppression to Urugur Muslims like in Soviet Russia by setting up concentration camps, rape and looting of properties and has strived hard to de-Islamise the population. The world has been a witness to the communists using Muslims for their benefit but strangely even now after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, we see them expressing trust and heavily relying on Chinese money for the expected development of Afghanistan. The Taliban has also declared their interest in participating in the Chinese belt and road project. A déjà vu of the USSR using the Muslims of Central Asia.

Indeed, observers of Muslim political thought in modem times have often noted, sometimes with patronising sympathy, sometimes with superciliousness, that those Muslims who seek democracy argue that Muhammad was the first democrat and the early Muslim community was the first democracy, those advancing socialism depict Muhammad as the first socialist and the early community as the first socialist state, and so on as political styles change. Even certain Muslim communists went so far as to say that Muhammad and the early community prefigured the idealised communist (“Religion and State: The Muslim Approach to Politics”, author: Paul Froese  Baylor University)

The invasion of Afghanistan by USSR was violently fought as USA created the hardcore Islamist  Mujahideens which later morphed into Taliban and Al-Qaeda following a form of Islam which is intensely radical and  fundamentalist. The Taliban rule of Afghanistan saw  rampant human rights violation and torture on women  and the second phase of taliban rule doesn’t look  any different.

The first example of a communist and Islamic bonhomie in South Asia was observed In Indonesia was Sarekat Islam (SI), the mass movement founded in 1912 defending Indonesians against the imperialistic domination of the Chinese, the religious encroachments of the Christian missions and the political rule of the Dutch. Few known modernist Islamist like Hadji Mohammad Misbach was very active in the mid-1920s in developing and publicising the idea of the alliance between communism and Islam. His articles on ‘Islamism and Communism’ of 1925 display an absolute certainty that the two are identical. 

In India, the communists saw the terrible Moplah riots where thousands of innocent Hindus were murdered, raped and looted or were converted forcefully as the first peasant uprising against imperials and landlords as declared by Saumyendranath Tagore the founder of Revolutionary Communist Party of India. Subsequently, the Kerala govt. declared the rioters as freedom fighters in 1967. The Communists had pursued a rather independent line during the Second World War when Stalin allied with the imperialist Britain. They then favored the division of India into 16 separate regions, on the basis of the principle of national self-determination. Muslims were to have ‘the right to form autonomous states and even to separate if they so wished, in places where they were in the overwhelming majority’. Later, after the war, stress was laid more on the need for immediate insurrection to overthrow both colonialist regimes and independent bourgeois nationalist states, such as India and Pakistan as the Soviet Eastern specialist E. Zhukov wrote in July 1947 that Nehru was a ‘rich reactionary’ and the Congress leadership were bourgeois who had capitulated to imperialism. Since the beginning of the last century, nationalism and establishment of a Hindu ethos and its safeguarding in india was declared to be fascist in mindset and that even the thought of rejuvenation of Hinduism was regressive because of inherent atheistic nature of communism and that probably it’s the dominant religion and thus has to be opposed at every instance.

Rajani Palme Dutt from CPGB in his book ‘India today’ wrote in 1940, “The insistence on orthodox religion as the heart of the national movement, and the proclamation of the supposed spiritual superiority of the ancient Hindu civilisation to modern ‘ Western ‘ civilisation (what modern psychologists would no doubt term a compensatory delusion), inevitably retarded and weakened the real advance of the national movement and of political consciousness, while the emphasis on Hinduism must bear a share of the responsibility for the alienation of wide sections of Moslem opinion from the national movement ”. The statement itself declares the loathing and fear mongering attitude of communists as a whole.

The communists in India thus evidently inherited this hypocrisy furthered by the Neheruvian tint on history and have time and again denied or under-represented the existence of ancient Bharat in the lines spoken by British generals and pushed by historians like Irfan Habib and Romila Thapar. The communists talk of how great the Mughal rule was but never talk of how the Sikh Guru Arjan and Guru Teg Bahadur were executed in open crowds by them. The overt importance given to the history of Muslim rule as the so-called bedrock of Indian existence is the nefarious design the communists had successfully hatched. We have time and again seen concrete attempts to selectively vilify the whole of the majority in name of genuinely  unfortunate mob events and put a blind eye to the innumerable communal riots started by the Muslim minorities across India.

We have seen many Muslim  communist leaders declared as comrades but posters in Muslim areas hide the communist credentials like ex-MP Md. Salim addressed as Janab Md. Salim in  Khidderpore area.

The tie-up of Muslims and Communists across the world looks akin to an unholy alliance of shrewd politics of give and take. With the mindset of ‘ enemy’s enemy is my friend’ against the European imperialists and later the American capitalist society in the 19th century, the communists continue to fan the extremist pan-Islamism identity to fuel the political life of the ever dwindling population of hardcore communist across the world. If the concoction of the two most violent set-ups on the face of the earth is not exposed extensively and repeatedly, the secular world we know of might cease to exist in near future.

Three drug peddlers were arrested from Wayanad in Kerala. They were processing 100 grams of MDMA drug worth Rs 10 Lakh. According to the police, the drug was brought from Bangalore. Naushad P T (40), Shruthy (25) and Yadhu (25) were arrested at the Kerala-Karnataka border. Both Yadhu and Shruti are working at Techno Park in Thiruvananthapuram.

A new pattern of using non-Muslims for the drug trade has been evolving now. After the narcotic Jihad comment made by a Bishop in Kerala created a huge controversy, now Islamists are trying to include non-Muslims in their narcotic Jihad business.

A drug racket was busted in Kochi (Kerala), and the police seized drugs worth Rs one crore. The police have arrested seven people, including two women. The arrested drug peddlers are Muhammad Ajmal, Faisal, Muhammad Fabaz, Muhammad Afsal, Taiba, shaman and Sreemon. The drug trade was centred in a flat in Kochi.

After receiving a tip-off about the drug trade, Customs preventive wing and excise conducted a joint search operation in the flat at Kakkanadu (Kochi) and arrested the seven. The investigative agencies have revealed that the racked used an i20 car for their drug business. They sold drugs like MDMA, LSD and others. The drugs were brought from Chennai, the report states.

Any connection of this drug trade with terror funding needs to be probed since Kerala has become a hotbed for Islamic fundamentalist activities.

In yet another incident of LOVE JIHAD in Kerala, a 15-year-old Christian girl was sexually assaulted and tried to convert by a Muslim man Arshad. Arshad is 21-years-old and works in an online food delivery app. The girl was taken to Munnar for six days, where she was sexually exploited. Kerala police have arrested Arshad, and he is sent to judicial custody.

There are also reports of Arshad’s parents and relatives involved in this Love Jihad incident. Multiple applications that teach Namaz and other Islamic customs were found in the victim’s phone. Also, stickers of ‘Masha Allah and ‘Allahu Akbar’ were found in the girl's room.

The victim was asked to stay away from ‘Kaafirs’ and, using her, money was withdrawn from her mother’s account.

Incidents like these show the dangerous tactics used by Islamic fanatics to convert girls from other communities.
