The grand parade will comprise Armed Forces & Paramilitary Forces, tableaux displayed by the States and Central Ministries/Departments, cultural performances by children, acrobatic motorcycle rides, and a fly-past, besides Beating the Retreat ceremony at the Vijay Chowk and PM’s NCC rally.

The weeklong event will commence with the birth anniversary of national icon Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on January 23 and will end with Martyrs' Day on January 30.

List of new events that will take place this Republic Day:

1. MILITARY TATTOO AND TRIBAL DANCE FESTIVAL:

Parakram Diwas will begin by marking the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. It will be celebrated with the Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance festival Aadi-Shaurya-Parv Parakram ka. The event is held at Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium, New Delhi on January 23 and 24, 2023.

This event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The coordinating agency from the Indian Coast Guard is also involved. The performances will have 10 military tattoo performances and 20 tribal dances.

The show will end with the performance of playback singer Kailash Kher. The booking for this show is available on www.bookmyshow.com.

2. VANDE BHARATAM 2.0:

The Ministry of Culture conducted the Vande Bharatam dance, which was a part of RDC 2023. The dancers were selected from earlier competitions conducted by the seven zonal cultural centers. A number of 503 dancers were chosen by the jury who would perform in the grand cultural show during the RD parade. The theme for this event is 'Nari Shakti.'

3. VEER GATHA 2.0:

Among the projects that were launched in Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav, Veer Gatha was one of them. It was a unique project organised to spread awareness among children about the sacrifices of the Armed forces.

In the competitions evaluated, there is a selection procedure that gets Super-25 winners. They will be felicitated on January 25, 2023, and will attend the RD parade.

4. SPECIAL INVITEES:

The presence of ordinary people will be seen on this year’s Republic Day as special invitees. They come from different walks of society: Shramyogis, the ones who were a part of Central Vista, Kartvya Path, milk, vegetable vendors, street vendors, etc. They will be seated on Kartvya Path.

5. BHARAT PARV:

The Ministry of Tourism will organise a Janbhagidari theme to be performed at the Gyan Path in Red Fort, New Delhi. The performances will continue from January 26-31, 2023. It will be done by military bands, cultural performances, pan-India food courts, and crafts bazaars.

"Ahead of Republic Day when, for the first time, a contingent of the Egyptian Army will participate in the parade, the special forces of India and Egypt are undergoing a 14-day-long joint military exercise."

"The Egyptian military will participate in India's Republic Day parade on January 26 and will have a contingent of 144 soldiers from the Army, Air Force and Navy marching with the Indian Armed Forces. A 12-member band of the Egyptian Army will also participate in the parade."

"Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be the chief guest of the 74th Republic Day celebrations. He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including five ministers and senior officials. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is due to arrive in New Delhi on January 24."

''This is for the first time that the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt has been invited as chief guest on Republic Day. A military contingent from the Egyptian Army will also participate in the Republic Day parade,'' the Ministry of External Affairs said in an official statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, special forces of the Indian and Egyptian armies are currently engaged in the first-ever joint exercise named "Exercise Cyclone-I" at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The exercise was kickstarted on January 14. 

The 14-day-long exercise, which is being carried out in the deserts of Rajasthan, engages both armies to advance special forces skills such as sniping, combat free fall, reconnaissance, surveillance and target designation, sharing of information on weapons, equipment, innovations, tactics, techniques and procedures.

The participants would also undertake joint planning and drills for special forces operations in a mechanised warfare setting, as well as surgical strikes on terrorist camps and hideouts to include sniping of high-value targets.

The joint exercise comes at a time when India and Egypt are celebrating 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

Egypt has also been invited as a guest country during India's G20 Presidency.
