He has also asked BJP office-bearers not to be “arrogant” and to listen to ordinary party workers who have made them leaders, ThePrint has learnt.
This came Sunday when the Prime Minister interacted with BJP’s national office-bearers, in-charges of states, presidents and general secretaries of state units, among others. The meeting was chaired by BJP president J.P. Nadda.
Multiple leaders ThePrint spoke to said that the PM’s message was a wake-up call to party leaders who were becoming complacent. It has come in the backdrop of criticism of the BJP for its failure to counter the narrative against the central farm laws on the ground in Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh.
According to a senior BJP leader, PM Modi, who attended the meeting in the morning, also told the party leaders to inform people about the benefits of the three laws.
“PM Modi spoke for at least 40 minutes but rather than a speech it was more of personal interaction with the office-bearers who were asked to give a brief introduction about themselves,” said the senior party leader. “While addressing the office-bearers, Modiji urged them to stay connected with the grassroots level workers as they are the foundation of the party.”
Another party functionary told ThePrint that Modi in his interaction spoke about being more humble, inclusive and approachable.
“He wanted to convey the message that party leaders should not be arrogant towards their cadre and meet them more often as it sends a positive message,” the second functionary said. “At the same time, he told them to not confine themselves to their offices and hit the road.”
‘Spend time on the field to dispel rumours’
“The PM said BJP’s aim is not to capture power but to serve the people and work for the development of the nation,” a third party leader said, adding that Modi highlighted the positive economic and agriculture reforms initiated by the government that is in line with the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas’ mantra.
“This is a very regular and routine thing PM Modiji has said that the party leader should stay connected with the cadre and the cadre with the masses,” said R.P. Singh, national BJP spokesperson. “We should not try and read too much into it.”

According to sources, PM Modi had a light-hearted conversation with the participants in which he said that though he did not want the participants to tell the media about what transpired in his address, he was sure that “some would go out and speak”.
In the same meeting, amid the ongoing farmers’ protest against the three contentious farm laws, the party had passed a resolution thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for passing the laws and carrying out reforms in the agriculture sector.

##Tamil Nadu: PFI Carries out Route March in Mayiladuthurai and Kayalpatnam without Police Approval : 23-Feb-2021 : T S Venkatesan : Organiser : Media Report.
Popular Front of India (PFI), the latest avatar of banned SIMI, took out a route march in Mayiladuthurai and Kayalpatnam amid the denial of permission for a rally by the police. The police had arrested BJP, VHP and Hindu Munnani care who took out Rath Yatra as part of Sri Ram Temple donation campaign with the High Court’s order were arrested in Madurai.
The PFI has been taking out route march copying RSS’s pathsanchalan, every year on 17th February to show of its strength. Police or the state administration never give permission to PFI rallies fearing chances of communal clashes. This year too, they have taken a route march in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. Organiser weekly has been writing time and again that these southern states have become a safe haven for this fundamentalist and terror group. The respective state governments have to be blamed for PFI and others’ open and blatant abuse of law of the land by taking out the rally.
On 17th, PFI carried out a Unity March to celebrate its 8th anniversary or raising day in Mayiladuthurai which is also a district headquarter. The march began at Tehasildar office weaving through the main roads of the city and culminated at Quid-de- Milleth ground through the Haji Needur C E Abdul Khadar Memorial public arch. State secretary of PFI Mohammed Rashin flagged off the march. PFI cadre in uniform marched under the leadership of P Halith. There was a band music team that marched ahead of the march. They also held a Ring March before the start of the public meeting. The meeting took off with a Unity Geeth. In the meeting, attendees observed two-minute silence for the death of farmers in Delhi. District president of PFI Mohamed Shalim presided over the function. National Women Front state president Fathima Aalima addressing the gathering said even 73 years after attaining freedom, there is no safety for women and children. “The country has gone into the hands of robbers from Britishers. We need another freedom struggle to retrieve India from them and for that PFI is the right choice. We will rally behind them always in this cause”.
State President Md. Sheik Ansari in his address accused the BJP of dividing people and leading the country in the destruction path. He said that the PFI could alone capable of taking on the BJP. “I appeal to all forces that believe in Democracy and unity. The fascist BJP is misusing police machinery by foisting false cases including defamation charges whoever opposes its dividing policies. It targets particularly PFI. We will not be cowed down by such pressure and intimidation tactics. I appeal to public support PFI.
SDPI state secretary Abdul Hameed said “ PFI raises the Unity slogan against this communal BJP which divides people on the lines religion. The BJP in collusion with RSS and sangh parivar outfits are trying to bring in the Manu based non-secular rule in India.” Most of the speakers in the meet spoke against BJP, RSS and sangh affiliated organisations with false narratives.
PFI took out another Unity March in Kadayanallur in Tenkasi district. Kadayanallure is home to a number of mosques owing to its sizeable Muslim population. In and around Mayiladuthurai , the Muslim population is a majority.
Hindu Makkal Katchi chief Arjun Sampath said, “Muslims in Kerala demanded ban on Hindu holy ‘Omkaram” as it is against Islam and their religious belief. Now their population has crossed to 40 percent unofficially. Their original masks have been revealed. Hindutva is in the brink of danger in God’s own land. Still Believing that all religions are equal. Shall we deceive ourselves?? Shall we protect our Dharma and our Bharat? SDPI and PFI have to be banned to protect Bharat. Kerala is an example when once they became majority they try to dictate terms how to be ruled. In Kerala both communal and communist forces joined hands. Hindus are facing grave danger from them.”
He also condemned the TN government for allowing Muslim women with 28 percent qualifying marks in police selection test. For woman in general it is 47, ST 44, widows 28 while for Muslim 28 percent. Even in Kashmir Muslims won’t get such concession. The preferential treatment for Muslim men and women in police recruitment would help anti-social, fundamentalist and terrorist infiltrate into police machinery. I appeal to the TN government to withdraw this order. Police recruitment should be based on merit and physical fitness. Lenience or back door entry policy would demoralize the entire force. It is against the majority of Hindus. We may launch protests or move courts if not revoked”.
Senkottai Sriram said the Police turned blind eye to the illegal route march in Mayiladuthurai, but it’s a crime to have Ram’s Rath yatra , Vel Yatra or an RSS Pathsanchalan in Tamil Nadu. In Madurai, Ram Bakthas protested against police arrogance despite clear Court orders. Police disallowed Rath yatra as part of Ram temple fund raising drive on Saturday. 70 Ram Bakthas were held at Arapalayam in Madurai. By the police. For over three and half hours they chant Ram namas and bhajans.
TN CM Palaniswamy announced last week that thousands of cases filed in connection with violation of lockdown norms to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and cases over protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Idinthakarai, Kudankulam, Koothuthenkuzhi villagers who took part in the Kudankum Atomic power project. This would benefit Muslims as well as Christian communities. The government has set a bad precedent by dropping of cases against the violators. Already Muslim men lodged in various jails involved in bomb blasts and killings of BJP, RSS men, have been demanding premature release on health grounds and long jail term.
The next move, the government may release them for their voters. Recently it has withdrawn the cases filed against government employees who took part in protests. It also announced to withdraw all the cases filed against jallikattu protestors in 2017. Despite repeated demands, the TN government is not releasing the Hindu Munnani and BJP cadre who protested seeking permission to install Vinayagar idols and immersion procession. Habitual Hindu phobic Veeramani, Vairamuthu, Thol Thriumavalavan and others for repeated speeches against Hindu gods and Hindus and PM Modi are yet to be arrested. But Kalayarman has been booked under Goondas act for his remarks against Prophet Nabi. This is nothing a blatant minority appeasement and clear vote bank politics.
Federation of people against Saffron terror ( a crypto Christian Asst Commissioner -intelligence section and urban naxal is believed to be behind this outfit) , anti –Fascist Federation have given call for come to Madurai City Police Commissioner officer to voice our concern against the Ram Temple Fund raising drive on 23rd. The charged that the BJP organized Rath yatra in the name of temple fund collection only to create communal clashes. The Madurai Bench of Madurai High Court wrongly gave permission for the Yatra.”. The Muslim, Dravidian and left parties were shaken after the overwhelming for the Ram Janma Bhoomi Teerth Kshetra’s Samparan Nidhi for the construction of Sri Ram Mandir Ayodhya.
End.
