BJP senior leader H Raja on Saturday called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin a fascist for saying one language, one religion and one culture is not possible in India. Tamil has lost its glory under Dravidian rule, he said.
The Central government gives importance to local languages, including Tamil. DMK is anti-Tamil, because in 50 years of Dravidian rule, Tamil has lost its glory and importance," Raja said, adding that DMK has made the state populace " illiterate".
"It is DMK which is against the plurality. BJP stands for plurality. In Uttar Pradesh, at the home constituency of PM Modi, the BJP government created a chair to teach Tamil. The BJP has brought Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati and the Congress hasn't opposed it because a right mindset is created by all responsible political parties of UP. Imagine a chair is created for poet Kalidasa to teach Sanskrit, what would have happened. All Dravidian leaders are irresponsible. These people have created an anti-other language mindset which is detrimental and autocratic," he added.
Earlier in the day, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin, while attending a Kerala event, had said, " The state government needs to be in direct contact with the people and for that it needs autonomy. The Indian government should respect the principles of cooperative federalism and function."
"Those who impose one language, one religion and one culture are the enemies of India's unity! #UniformityIsNotUnity. You can never achieve unity by uniformity! The only way for India to thrive is to have strong, autonomous states," he added.
Criticising the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments departments report on allegations against Chidambaram Nataraja temple, Raja said, "HR&CE minister is maneuvering petition. All petitions are being maneuvered. Why can't CM Stalin say we will take over mosques, churches, we will bring religious charitable endowment boards. That is secularism. You people [DMK] are anti-Hindu."
Earlier, in his address, MK Stalin expressed concern over the suspension of 27 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members recently.
"The right to express is being denied even to MPs, in Parliament which should be a place for the clash of various ideas. 27 MPs, including those from the DMK have been suspended."
"There is no right to expression even in Parliament which is the place to express opinion," he said, adding, "this is the state of India's democracy today."
